6 weeks

Waylon you are six weeks and 3 days old today. I've been meaning to write this 3 days ago but finding time and energy to do anything but hold you, feed you & change you isn't easy. You are growing pretty good. We haven't taken you to your one month checkup because we had to move but you have an appointment coming up in a couple weeks where you will get shots. I plan on buying some baby Tylenol before then. You are not going to like getting shots, I imagine.

Let's see...some of the things you do now are fun to watch. You smile quite a bit, especially when you are content and when we play with you. You really enjoy papa playing with you because he does silly things. Mama soothes you better and you like that too. You still get pretty angry and your little face scrunches up and it's cute sometimes. But when you get fussy all day and night, it wears us out. We hate to hear you scream because we don't know how to make you feel better. Luckily, it isn't always like that but when it does, it's horrible.

You are making a lot of new noises, cooing and gurgling and you do this little screech that's cute. You like to kick and flail your arms a lot, which is a pain in the butt when I am trying to feed you or change your diaper or clothes. Papa likes to wear you in the sling when we go out and you still get lots of attention that way. Mama takes a ton of pictures and videos to send to your grandpa(s) and grandma. Sometimes it doesn't bother you, sometimes you give me a "look". You can shoot some mean mugs, kiddo.

Even though mama breastfeeds you, we have been giving you bottle of formula which you chug down like nobody's business. We wonder if you are eating too much sometimes. You like to just hang on to the boob all night, though. I wish we had a scale to weigh you because you eat like a champ.

Long month

Holy crap. I don't even know where to begin. It's been a very long, hard, stressful month for all of us. We had to stay in a motel for a week while we waited for our new apartment to be ready. I've been working from 7 am - 4 pm during the week and moving during my lunch break. We had to move on the weekend, driving down to Columbus, packing up the truck and moving back all in one day. There were times when we barely had enough money for gas or food but we made it. We've been in the new apartment for a little more than a week and it's really nice to have a place to call home. Unfortunately, Waylon has been keeping us up all night with really bad gas or constipation, we really just don't know. I wish I knew what was wrong with you and how to fix it but all we can do is hold you, rock you, feed you, burp you. I hope you get better soon because mama really needs to sleep at night. Papa is busy setting up the house. he unpacked everything and even decorated and painted some old furniture left behind. I wish I could write more but mama is at work and has to go.

finally...someone smiled down on us

Mama and Papa are very excited and relieved! Mom got a good job in Atlanta and found a place we can afford to stay at that will let us keep Bibi. We are sooooo happy to be out of this place! We have been packing and planning for the past couple days. Everyhting is happening so fast, but falling into place pretty well. Papa is going to take care of you while mommy works, which is sad for mommy but papa will take good care of you. The important thing is, we will be together and we will be OK. It's been a long, tough year and even though it nearly broke us, I wouldn't trade any of it if we didn't have you.

Mama's breasts however, are still going through hell. I have Mastitis and thrush. Right now mommy's got vagina cream rubbed all over her nipples and I get to wash them with vinegar. Yay.

3 weeks

We've made it to 3 weeks. Mama & Papa are getting a little bit better at this parenting thing. It would help a whole lot if we weren't under the stresses we have now but despite all that I think we are doing pretty good. First of all, you eat like a little piglet. Mama has been exclusively breastfeeding you all the time but since I may have to go to work soon and papa will have to take care of you, we are supplementing my breastmilk with some formula feedings. I was really worried that you wouldn't take a bottle or eat formula, but you had no problems with a bottle and you chugged down the formula and wanted more! I'm still going to feed you my milk but now we know you are not a picky eater and that's good. At this rate, you are gonna grow fast.

Speaking of growing fast, you are already smiling and lifting your head up and looking around. You are a strong baby and when you get fussy you just don't sit still. You still don't like diaper changes but you're handling them better. A few days ago papa was changing your diaper and you finally peed on him for the first time. Papa juped back a bit and tried to dodge the stream but you got him nice and soaked. You've already tagged mama several times, the first time was the day after you were born and you peed right in my face and got my hair all wet.

We all took a road trip up to Atlanta this past monday so mama could go to a job interview. We stayed at a motel which was really nice to have a peaceful place. We didn't want to leave. Before we came back to Columbus, we stopped and visited Kim, who got to be the second person besides me, papa and grandpa to hold you.

You sleep so well during the day and you still keep us up during the night but you are getting a little bit better. I hope you get into a sleep schedule soon so we can get some sleep.
